Susan Himmelfarb, principal of the firm, directs the firm’s work and handles many of the firm’s assignments  personally.  Her understanding of client needs and her belief in the critical importance of finding the optimum fit of person to position, born of extensive management and leadership experience in not-for-profit, academic, and government settings, are among the firm’s particular strengths.

Ms. Himmelfarb holds master's degrees from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.  She was for many years a director of the Harvard Club of Chicago and The Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust.

Meghan Strubel, an associate with the firm, brings both not-for-profit program experience and private sector project management and research experience to the task of identifying prospective candidates.  Her varied background and multiple skills help ensure that The Himmelfarb Group’s outreach is well-targeted and productive.

 

Ms. Strubel holds an M.A.T. in History from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  She is active in the Oak Park elementary school district's strategic planning process and middle school planning and oversight committee, and volunteers with a number of local community organizations.

 

Associate Maggie Bowman brings her research, organizing, and production skills as well as her varied experience in the arts, as a consultant, and as an organizer, to her work at The Himmelfarb Group.  Ms. Bowman's research skills and outreach ability add to the high quality of the candidate slates The Himmelfarb Group presents. 

 

Ms. Bowman holds a B.A. from Carleton College.  In addition to her work for The Himmelfarb Group, Ms. Bowman has an active career as a documentary film maker.
